Storytime for babies and toddlers with Children's Librarian Helena Estes, May 1, 2012.

storytime

Among the 2011 holiday decorations coordinated by the Friends of the Library is this display created by the Orange Land Trust, with accompanying information.

turkey
"The male turkey in the center is similar to the turkeys seen frequently around Orange. They were reintroduced to the wild a number of years ago."

pheasant
"The ring-necked pheasant shown is a male. The ring-necked pheasant is a native of China and East Asia and was introduced to North America as a game bird. At one time it was stocked on parts of the Wright farm. It is now common in the northeast U.S. and southern Canada including Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick."

grouse
"The ruffed grouse is the grey bird near the lamp. This is also a male and they share the ability to display their tail feathers with the turkey. Their habitat is the ground and understory of deciduous and mixed woodlands in northeastern U.S. and adjacent Canada. They take the cold weather better than the ring-necked pheasant."
