CASE MEMORIAL LIBRARY FINES PAYMENT AND MATERIAL(S)

REPLACEMENT POLICY

 

PATRON RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOANED ITEMS

 

Patrons are responsible for material(s) that are loaned. If loaned item(s) are returned late, a fine will be generated. The maximum fine for each overdue item will not exceed $5.00.

All Books $0.10 per day
Magazines $0.10 per day
Videos and DVDs $1.00 per day
CDs $0.10 per day
Audiobooks $0.10 per day
Interlibrary Loans $0.10 per day
Museum Passes $1.00 per day

 

If borrowed items are lost or returned damaged and no longer suitable for loan, patrons are required to pay the original price. A set counts as one item. Patrons may not replace items themselves. Only the Case Memorial Library can do so.

 

NOTIFICATION PROCEDURE FOR LATE, LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS

 

An overdue notice will be mailed 7 days after the due date for materials that circulate 7 days or less. A bill for the original price of the item(s) will be mailed 14 days after the first overdue notice.

 

For materials that circulate 14 days or longer, an overdue notice will be mailed 14 days after the due date. A bill for the original price of the item(s) will be mailed 28 days after the first overdue notice.

 

The system tabulates fines which are automatically placed in the patron’s record.

 

PAYMENT OF FINES AND REPLACEMENT FEES

 

A. Patrons are expected to pay fines when item(s) are returned. Fines can be paid in cash, by check payable to the Case Memorial Library or by money order.

 

B. Payment for lost or damaged items is expected upon receipt of the bill and may be paid in cash, by check payable to the Case Memorial Library or by money order. When replacement fees are paid, fines accrued to the date of payment are waived.

C. The patron will be given a computer-generated receipt for fines or replacement fees that are paid.

D. The library will not accept a replacement of any kind for lost or damaged items. Patrons are expected to pay the original price for such items. All payments are non-refundable. Patrons may keep any item(s) that are found after the replacement fee has been paid.

 

SUSPENSION OF BORROWING PRIVILEGES AND DISCRETIONARY WAIVERS

 

The borrowing privileges of patrons with fines or fees over $5.00 on their record will be suspended until payment is made or the lost item is returned.

 

Fines, fees or suspensions may be partially or fully waived at the discretion of the Head of Circulation and the Library Director.
